Do you know how many calories are in one pound of fat? 3500 calories are in one pound of fat. If your goal is to lose 1 pound of fat in a week that means through working out and altering your diet you would need to eliminate 500 calories every day for 7 days. For example, you could reduce your calorie intake by 250 calories and complete a 250 calorie workout each day for 7 days, which is a very attainable goal! Consistency is key.
I know, about now you are saying, it is next to impossible to workout with my sweet little one as my shadow! Try heading to the park and have them ride in the stroller with you for a quick walk; my son is motivated to be good in the stroller knowing he gets to play at the park after my 20-30 minute walk. His cooperation did not happen overnight, he had a hard time in the stroller at first; however, once I got into a habit of walking first he got used to jumping in the stroller for mama's workout (food and toys in the stroller also help!). Sometimes mamas need to put themselves and their needs first; we are so used to putting priority on our families, but believe me, this is for their benefit too! You are showing your family how to be healthy and maintain balance in their lives- not to mention the extra energy you get and the endorphins that are released with a good workout! Walking one mile under 15 minutes (a fast paced walk) will burn 80-100 calories, depending on your weight. Try walking 1-2 miles (15-30 minutes) and while the kids are playing at the park complete a few sets of intervals (push-ups, sit-ups, burpees, squats, lunges, etc.)-- you just completed a 250 calorie workout! Lastly, cut 250 calories from your diet. This doesn't necessarily mean eating less (though in certain cases it does), mainly it means to eat smarter, for example, replace mayonaise and sour cream with Greek yogurt, use less dressing on your salad and replace soda with water. It's easier than you might think! Would you take on this 7 day challenge to lose 1 pound this week? Be happy, be healthy and go be fit, Mama! |
